Solid timber dining tables, made your way

Every table we make is built from solid Australian hardwood. Depending on the design, a top may be cut from a single slab, sometimes from a tree more than 300 years old, or made from lengths of timber expertly joined together. Either way, no two tables are the same in grain, colour or character.

Having your table custom made means it suits your room, your family and your style, rather than the other way round. If you have a design in mind, we’ll help bring it to life. If you’re not sure what will work best, call us for advice.

Dining table sizes

We make dining tables in any size, from compact tables to very large ones. Some of our single slabs measure 4 m long and 1.6 m wide, long enough to seat up to 12 people at one solid piece of timber. We keep slabs of different sizes in stock, and if we don’t have the right one, we’ll source it.

Live edge, straight, round or bevelled edges

Choose the edge that suits your table and your room:

  • Live edge: keeps the natural outline of the slab exactly as the tree grew it, making the table a true centrepiece
  • Straight edge: clean, squared edges for a modern look
  • Round edge: softened edges that are comfortable and family friendly
  • Bevelled edge: an angled edge that makes a thick top look lighter

Table bases and legs

Choose from timber or metal bases in a range of styles, from industrial-inspired metal legs to handcrafted timber bases in contemporary, modern and mid-century designs, and sculptural pieces such as our interlocking “W” base. Our tables suit both homes and commercial spaces.

Choose from a range of Australian hardwoods

We use sustainable timber from the hinterland of the NSW mid north coast. Choose from red cedar, blackbutt, tallowood, silky oak, red gum, she oak, brush box, blue gum, bloodwood and more, depending on availability and the look you want for your home or business.

From tree to table: how we make your dining table

  1. Selecting the timber. We fell a selected tree, and the log is cut into slabs on site.
  2. Drying. The slabs are stacked and battened, air dried, then kiln dried to 10–12% moisture. Natural drying can take 2.5 to 4 years; our process takes less than 5 months.
  3. Milling and sanding. Your timber is planed with an overhead router, then sanded seven times, from coarse 40 grit up to fine 400 grit, to remove every imperfection.
  4. Oiling. A coat of tung oil is absorbed for 24 hours, then wet-sanded at 500 grit. We repeat this another seven times.
  5. Finishing. A natural resin forms and is rubbed into the timber, creating a smooth, protective, mirror-like finish that keeps the natural beauty, feel and scent of the timber.

Recent dining tables

350-year-old Blackbutt single slab table

Cut from a tree around 350 years old, this single-piece slab is 900 to 1300 mm wide, with rippling fiddleback grain that photos don’t do justice. It’s built without a single screw or nail and finished in natural eucalyptus resin. It suits indoor or outdoor dining.

Blackbutt table with “W” base

A natural edge Blackbutt slab stained Japan brown, on an interlocking “W” shaped base. The timber is hundreds of years old, but the base gives it a contemporary look, and it pairs beautifully with timber floors.

Mid-century Blackbutt dining table

At 2700 × 1100 mm, this Blackbutt table is stained Japan brown and set on mid-century style legs.

Dining tables with matching bench seats

Pair your table with matching timber bench seats, made from the same timber where available, for relaxed family dining.
